DJ bags are what DJs use to transport and store the various pieces of equipment they use for their shows.  Some DJs have to travel long distances, so having a bunch of expensive equipment rolling around loose in the back of an old, hot van is not the best idea.  As a DJ, you want a bag or case that’s hard enough to keep your equipment safe and out of the heat.  DJs still have a hard time being accepted as true musicians in some circles because of the newness of their craft.  An indisputable similarity between DJs and “normal bands” is how they transport their equipment.  Besides some DJs are considered rock stars among their loyal followers.
Hard cases are the best for your equipment.  Equipment moves around a lot and soft cases could lead to your turntables getting crushed.  You might end up paying a little more, but it is well worth the price to keep your equipment from breaking.  It’s better than the prospect of having to buy your pricey DJ equipment all over again.  As the cliché saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry. 
Plus, you can customize a hard case with stickers and paint.  Soft cases need to be designed when they’re created, or else you will have to be satisfied with the best the company that makes the bags can do.  One disadvantage of getting a hard case is that it’s a little heavier.  But the lighter the case, the more at risk your equipment is going to be.
