While Technics is the most notable brand for any DJ, it's difficult to find a Technics DJ package. Numark, a brand seen as “acceptable or better” by most in the DJ scene, provides solid DJ packages to help get you started. Their DJ in a box kit, for example, features two turntables, a mixer, and DJ headphones. The normal extras like Groove Tool cartridges also come with the package. Is this the most professional option? Well, no, of course not. You're going to see turntables with belt drive motors, a minor disadvantage – mixers with fewer options – headphones that don't compare to what can be bought independently. However, it gets the job done, and more importantly it's as cheap as anything. You can purchase a starting DJ package of this type for under $500, including shipping, and start getting experience as a DJ. For that same price, you could only get one or two pieces of equipment needed for a fully professional package. We always recommend investing in better equipment if you can, but if you want to try the waters first, or if you just don't have the funds, DJ packages are a good way to go. |
