Investing in a DJ Table or Stand

While many starting DJs set up their individual pieces of equipment on whatever is available to them, this is certainly not a mark of professionalism.  Beyond that, putting hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars of equipment (from your turntables and mixers to your entire vinyl collection to your music filled laptop) on top of a flimsy, thirty dollar folding table is a risky practice.  That's why DJ tables & stands are a specialized piece of equipment worth investment for any DJ who takes their work seriously.

There are many things to look at when you're examining tables & stands.  Features like ergonomic design are standard.  These tables are designed to put all your equipment in the most accessible locations for fast and effective changes in your music.  The height and setup is intended specifically for DJs.  The storage space allows you to store your music, with many of the tables & stands offering storage space for hundreds of records, hundreds of CDs, a slot for your headphones, and so on.

Beyond that, most tables allow for rotation of the turntables and are compatible with the major types of hardware that you're likely to be using.  While the more professional versions range upward of several hundred dollars, portable versions of these tables and stands, or more stripped down versions, are available for a smaller investment of just one to two hundred dollars.

Whatever model you choose to go for, having a solid table or stand that was constructed with a DJ in mind gives you a lot of advantages.  Not to be discounted, the professional look you will have gives the impression of experience, and that means a better impression overall.
